Stats for 2011

Hi larpers!

Here some stats of the usage of Larpwriter during 2011:

68 active larps have been created (47 in 2010). I've only counted the larps with at least 10 characters in order to eliminate all the larps created to test.

They contain a total of 2254 characters, 494 groups, 594 documents, 236 organizers and 1004 players (because some of those larps have not yet opened their registrations).

The largest larp has 223 characters, on average by larp there are 3-4 organizers and 33 characters but this latest figure is underestimated because some of the larps are still being written. The average age of players is 33 years.

This year the donations have covered the operating costs, thanks a lot to all the donators!

Happy 2012 :)

Recent small improvements #6

Hi larpers!

Here is a summary of the small improvements recently added to Larpwriter:
  • now in the list of characters it is indicated if a character has been sent by email. The date of mailing is shown in the character's page
  • drop-down menus to select a person, group, player, organizer names are sorted alphabetically
  • the list of organizers with their contact information is downloadable into an Excel file
  • in edit mode, the button "Remove formatting " to delete all styles of selected text (the button is shaped like an eraser).
Thanks to Julian, Niko and Mik for their comments and suggestions!

New options for relationships and group memberships

    Hello larpers!

The relationships between characters and the belonging of character to a group have been improved with several new options:

    1. you can choose to not display the picture of a character when it is added to a group or linked with another character, eg if his face was never seen you can upload a picture to replace the photo of the character's player when it is added to a group or linked with another character, for example if he is known under another identity
    2. you can choose to replace the name of a character by the name you want when it is added to a group or linked with another character, for example if the character is known to different people under different identities
    3. you can add several times the same character to a group or link it several times with one other character, for example to simulate the fact that a character thinks to know two different people when in reality it is the same character

Thank to Mik to these suggestions!

PS: the second option replaces the old possibility of a second name for the characters. Only larps created before March 22, 2011 retain that option.

    Donations in 2010

    Hello again,

I've updated the donation page. Now it displays the annual operating costs to maintain the website (292 euros), and the donations received each year (90 euros in 2010).

The donations in 2010 did not cover the costs, but I am hopeful that in 2011 they will because much more larps using Larpwriter will be held in 2011.

Thanks by advance for your help!

    The donation page.

    Recent small improvements #5

    Hello larpers!

Here is a summary of the small improvements recently added to Larpwriter:

    • it is now possible to add / edit / delete internet links in documents, players, groups, characters...
    • if you manage multiple larps, a new drop-down menu lets you switch from one to another directly without having to go through your account page
    • we can now center, justify, right align the texts you write in Larpwriter
    • also underline text
    • finally, when you create a player from his application without creating at the same time his character, the character name and information he had requested are now stored in the 'More info' section of the player

Thanks to Ryan, thepimousse, Damien and Anna for their comments and suggestions!

    Separation of PCs and NPCs

    Hello,

The tab "Characters" has been separated into 2 different tabs "PCs" and "NPC" to better distinguish them. Thus you don't have to create
    anymore specific group "NPCs".

NPCs also appear in the larp treeview in a separate branch.

Finally, it is now possible to associate a document to all the PCs, or to all the NPCs, or to all the PCs and NPCs.

You can always mix PCs and NPCs within a group.

In existing larps all characters appear in the "PCs" tab. You can edit those you want to move to the "NPCs" tab by flagging them "NPC".

Thanks to Meriadeg for the initial suggestion of this idea!

    Stats for 2010

    Hi larpers!

For the last post of the year, I've compiled some statistics on the use of Larpwriter during 2010 (as of November 8), one year after its opening.

Larpwriter is mainly used in France, then a bit in New Zealand and Canada.

There were 47 active larps created. I've only counted the larps with at least 10 characters in order to eliminate all the larps created to test.

They contain a total of 1804 characters, 362 groups, 427 documents, 166 organizers and 1001 players (because some of those larps have not yet opened their registrations).

The largest larp has 223 characters, on average there are 38 characters by larp but this figure is underestimated because some of the larps are still being written.

The average age of players is 27 years, the youngest was 8 years old and the oldest 58 years.

That's all, next year I will take more time to detail including the distribution of players by age and gender.
